This policy explains how AgentMate MY collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal data, in line with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). It applies to buyers and renters who submit an inquiry, agents who create an account, and visitors to our website.
1.Personal data we collect
When you use AgentMate MY, we may collect the following personal data:
If you are a buyer or renter submitting an inquiry
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your mobile / WhatsApp number
- Your inquiry message and viewing preferences
If you are an agent with an account
- Your name, email, and password (stored securely)
- Your REN ID, agency name, phone / WhatsApp number, service areas, and profile details
- Listing information and photos you upload
Automatically
- Privacy-safe usage analytics (e.g. page views, feature usage). We do not track passwords, private message contents, or use session replay.
2.How we use your personal data
We process personal data only for these purposes:
- To connect buyers with agents. When you submit an inquiry, we verify it (usually by emailing you a one-time code to reduce spam) and then pass your inquiry and contact details to the relevant listing agent so they can follow up with you.
- To operate agent accounts and publish the listings and public agent profiles that agents choose to create.
- To send service communications, such as verification codes, lead notifications to agents, and account-related emails.
- To improve the service using privacy-safe, aggregated usage analytics.
We rely on your consent (given when you tick the consent box and submit the inquiry form or create an account) and on the performance of the service you have requested.
4.Your rights under the PDPA
Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct personal data that is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.
- Withdraw consent to our processing of your personal data.
- Limit or object to the processing of your personal data.
- Request that we delete personal data we no longer need to hold.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 6. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer connect you with an agent or provide certain features.
5.Data retention & security
We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Unverified inquiries are automatically expired and removed after a short period. Verified leads are retained in the agent’s CRM so the agent can follow up.
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls and encrypted transmission. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.
